Smiling white woman with long wavy hair and a chunky necklace.

Hello Families! I am so excited to be part of the Crocker Highlands community.  My name is Ms. Roessel, and I will be teaching first grade.

I grew up in Chico, California in a family of educators. My childhood was spent “in the classroom,” either making my mother’s art project samples or volunteering with center time. Looking back, I can see this paved the way for my future career.  I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Chico State University. That summer, I was able to direct summer camps for the U.S. Military in Vicenza, Italy. In 2015, I then  earned my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential  and taught in Orland, California for one year and El Sobrante for two years. These last two year, I was given the opportunity to teach at an American International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy staying active. Hiking is something I’m passionate about. Whenever I have free time, I drive to a nearby national park to hike and explore. I also love running and  have completed one marathon and a variety of half-marathons. Some of my other hobbies include traveling to remote places, backpacking, concerts, and true crime podcasts.

Since I shared so much about me, I can’t wait to know more about you! I’m so excited to meet all of you this coming year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Roessel
