If you have a child who was born before September 1, 2013,  and you would like to enroll your child at Crocker Highlands, your first stop must be the Student Welcoming Center located at 746 Grand Avenue. This office determines all placements.  For more information, go to

Tour Information 2017-18

Tours for prospective incoming families take place during November, December, and January. All daytime tours will meet in the school office.  Someone will be at the door to check ID and sign you in. To register for a tour below, please click here:

Morning tours on November 15, December 6 and January 16 will visit the kindergarten classrooms, as well as the main areas of the school. There will be a brief Q&A session towards the end of the tour. All tours will begin at 9:00 AM, last approximately 60 to 90 minutes and are limited to 40 people. Tours are for all prospective families, kindergarten through 5th grade. However, since most of the attendees will be parents of incoming kindergarten students, the tours will make a point to visit all of the kindergarten classrooms. Please note Crocker does NOT offer a transitional kindergarten program; for those parents looking for a TK program, please check the OUSD website for a list of schools that offer TK.

If you are interested in seeing another grade level, please let your tour guide know.  They will try to accommodate a visit to a classroom at that grade level. Tours are for parents/guardians, though infants in a carrier or backpack are welcome. Please keep in mind that because tours will visit classrooms, we want to be minimally disruptive to their learning environments.  We therefore encourage small children to stay at home or at daycare. There will also be an evening information session on January 9 that parents may attend instead of a morning tour.  We will visit classrooms but there will be no students present. There is no need to attend this evening event in addition to a daytime tour.

 In addition to taking a tour, you might consider connecting with other parents in the Crocker community to ask/answer questions.

1. Attend a monthly Crocker PTA meeting (see our school’s Google calendar for the next meeting). Great place to meet other parents, get a feel for what goes on at our school and ask questions.

2. Check out our Facebook Page.  Great place to ask questions of the community and get answers from parents and staff. “Like” us on Facebook or “Follow” us on Twitter to get updates on what’s going on at school.

Enrollment Options
The School Options Open Enrollment Program requires all students to submit an application to attend a school in the fall.  Past OUSD policy has been to give top priority to kids with continuing siblings at the school.  After that, neighborhood students, then others from other parts of the city. Please note that our school is very crowded, so unfortunately there is no guarantee that new students who live within our neighborhood will have a spot.  The open enrollment period begins in December and usually ends in mid-January. Check the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) website for specific dates.  If the policy changes, our website will be updated with this information as well.

School sites have no role in assigning students to their schools. All admission requests and questions should be directed to the OUSD Student Welcoming Office (510-434-7790).
