Although my career did not begin in teaching, it has been the most rewarding and challenging career, far surpassing the US Army and corporate employment. Since becoming a full-time teacher in Oakland Unified School District four years ago, I have so enjoyed seeing that special moment when a child connects with the lesson. Working with children is an honor, and helping students grow their passion for learning is very fulfilling. As an educator, I believe my role is to inspire my students to take risks, knowing that errors are gifts because therein lies the learning.
