Dear Crocker Families,

I am writing to echo the message communicated in today’s email from OUSD regarding Oakland’s status as both a sanctuary city and school district. Like all schools in OUSD, we do not request or maintain any information about students’ immigration status.
Our top priority is to support all students of every birthplace, ethnicity, race, language, religion, and family structure.  Two key ways we communicate our support for all kids and their families is by reinforcing our words of the month (respect, cooperation, acceptance, compassion, responsibility, perseverance and friendship) and through our Caring Schools Community work in classrooms.
Here is a link to the district’s website, where you can find the FAQs that were also in our school bulletin for several weeks, along with the text of the OUSD School Board’s Resolution.  You’ll notice that the FAQ’s and Resolution are in several languages, so please do share this information with friends or family in the city who might not know about it.
All my best,
Joci Kelleher
