“If a child does not learn the way you teach, teach the way the child learns,” (Author unknown)
Dear Crocker Families,
Welcome to my page! I am excited to be teaching 4th and 5th Graders this year. I had the pleasure of getting to know many of the upper grade students in my capacity as math specialist last year, so I already know how wonderful your children are. I am looking forward to a great year ahead!
A few words about me: I spent the better part of my childhood in Tennessee and Washington, D.C., before moving out to Oakland, where I graduated from Oakland Technical High School. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and hold a Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential from San Francisco State University, and a Masters degree from Middlebury College.
I began teaching in 1995, and have spent much of my career as a Spanish bilingual teacher here in Oakland. I have also lived on mainland Spain and on Tenerife, in the Canary Islands of Spain, where I taught for several years at a British school.
I enjoy reading, traveling and learning languages. But my greatest loves are teaching and spending time with my son Henry (a Crocker 3rd Grader) and my husband Jorge.
Fun fact: My family has lived in the Crocker Highlands neighborhood for over thirty years and my younger sister and brother were both students here at Crocker!
