NEWS FROM ROOM 1 10/18/09
Dear Parents,
I am going to send this out in a class email and a hard copy to make sure everyone gets it. Eventually my hope is to just send it out through Heather’s updates.
Lots of exciting things are happening in Room 1! We have been doing a lot of creative activities that celebrate the season. The room is decorated with spiders, ghost stories, Halloween lights, haunted houses, and more. If you have any great Halloween books or stories to share please send them in.
Our Open Court Unit on friendship is ending and we will begin our unit on City Wildlife. I am in the process of doing the end of the unit assessments and these can be reviewed at our parent conferences.
PARENT CONFERENCES
Weds- Friday are minimum days set aside for parent conferences. I am unable to be at school on Thurs and Friday. I will be scheduling conferences for this Weds. I will also hold conferences before and after school next week. I will send out a sign up form tomorrow and confirm the times with you.
FIELD TRIPS
Danielle has set up a field trip to the Chabot Science Center. This is a great one that includes a class, tour, and planetarium show. The trip takes place on Thurs. Nov 19th. Our trip to see the Oakland Symphony is on Nov. 6. Permission slips will go out prior to the trip.
CLASS WEBSITE
Hye-Chung has been working on our class website. You can access this by going to the Crocker Highlands site and clicking teachers and classes-third grade- Donahue. Click on photo gallery to see students using the parachute at P.E with Coach B,dissecting owl pellets with our kindergarten buddies, and more. My hope is to include your photos, student work, classroom activities, and events. If you have ideas please let me know.
