Welcome to our web site!
We want to share the things that have been happening in Room 1! This is a great class made up of many talented individuals. The students are inquisitive and enjoy taking on new challenges. Third grade is an opportune time to explore ideas and try new things.

ABOUT THE TEACHER: My name is Sherwood Donahue. I grew up in Oakland and graduated from the Oakland High School that people now refer to as the old school. My wife and son are both graduates of Skyline High School. She is the librarian at Carl Munck Elementary which is the same school she and our son both attended. My father was a counselor and teacher at Roosevelt Jr. High for over thirty years. My mother-in-law was an elementary teacher at Horace Mann. Our family has a long tradition of teaching in Oakland!
I taught at Lafayette Elementary School in West Oakland during the mid seventies and early eighties. I earned a Reading Specialist Credential and later received an Administrative Services Credential. Both of these have given me the opportunity to increase my awareness of good instructional practices.
The move to Crocker Highlands Elementary has been rewarding. In the over twenty years that I have worked at the school I have seen many students grow into fine young adults. At Crocker I help coordinate the Conflict Management Program, the Oratorical Fest, and am currently one of the Teacher’s In Charge when he principal is away.
I feel very fortunate to have a job that I love.
Sherwood Donahue
