Dear Crocker Families,

Welcome to the 2009/2010 school year!

I have been teaching at Crocker Highlands since January 1999. I actually did my first student teaching assignment in Room 14 – the same room I am in now!

I have a wonderful husband and two great children. Michelle, 20, who is in her third year at Santa Clara University and my son, Scott, 17, returned August 2009 from a Rotary exchange year in Chile. He is currently a junior at Skyline High School.

We do a lot of fun and challenging learning projects in first grade – Frog Math, Teddy Bear Day, Dental Health, 100th Day of School, Maps, Symbols of the U.S. We also learn a new word each day – flabbergasted, majestic, devoured – to name a few. In addition to our new math program this year, we will work with three FOSS kits for science–plants, solids and liquids, and air and weather.

First grade is such an exciting grade to teach because of the growth and development first graders make throughout the year! I look forward to a great year with your children!

Please visit this web page throughout the year for happenings in room 14 and pictures of things we are doing.
