Dear Incoming Kindergarten Families,
First of all, we would like to welcome you to Crocker Highlands! We are looking forward o you and your child becoming part of our wonderful school community.
Kindergarten is an exciting time for our new students. The first two weeks of school for all our students are minimum days, 8:40 – 1:40. A full school day can be a challenge for the younger students, particularly after a long summer. This makes for a gentler transition.
On that first day of school, we invite all kindergarten families to meet us downstairs in the multi-purpose room at 9:00 am, 20 minutes after the 1st – 5th graders arrive. This gives the families of the older children time to get their other student to their new class, and it should help our congested parking situation. PLEASE do not bring your child into the building beforehand. After the teachers bring their new kindergarteners to their classrooms, all parents and guardians are invited to stay for a welcome reception in the library with the principal, Joci Kelleher, and the PTA co-presidents, Louise Bedsworth and Lesley Podesta.
We are excited to start the year off right and are eager to get to know your children. Information about the classroom routines, expectations, and what your child needs to bring on the first day of school can be found in the Kindergarten Handbook 2013/14, which is posted on the Crocker Kindergarten website. Kindergarten is an exciting time for everyone and we want to make sure that everyone – students, families, and teachers – is successful!
For those children who were unable to attend the Kindergarten Round-Up last May, there will be another opportunity for the students to meet the teachers and get comfortable about their new school. This will take place on Tuesday, August 20th at from 9 to 10 am. Please bring your child to school and meet us in the office. You will have 30 minutes to relax and go get a cup of coffee! It is helpful if you call the office the day before to confirm whether or not you are coming. This is ONLY for students who have not attended a Round-up session yet.
There are so many great things happening at Crocker Highlands.
